Common questions

Do I need reliable internet in the field?

No. Sensors communicate with the scarecrow hub locally, and the hub buffers readings until it has a connection to a mobile network, where available, or to a satellite (included in Large Farm subscription).

How hard is installation?

Push the sensors into the soil by hand. Step-by-step instructions come in the box and in the app, and we're happy to help with any questions.

What happens when a sensor fails?

Every sensor is covered by a fix-or-replace warranty which lasts 3 years. The app automatically flags a failing sensor, and a replacement ships out.

My farm grows three different crops. Will it work?

Each field can be given a profile, including crop, climate zone, and soil type, along with specific target ranges and tailored advice. For example, the same moisture reading may be acceptable in your paddy but could trigger an alert in your wheat field.

Who owns my farm's data?

You do. Your readings are yours to export, delete or share. We use anonymised, aggregated patterns to improve the recommendation models — never your identifiable farm data, and never sold to third parties.

How are recommendations made?

The algorithms are built by our biologists and engineers, continuously updated and tailored to your farm.
